Aanand L. Rai's untitled film starring Shah Rukh Khan seems to be having trouble with its leading ladies. For, whoever the filmmakers have approached for the roles seems to be turning it down because of date issues. The film has two heroines in the lead. And the filmmakers had apparently approached Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif first. While Katrina is very much in the film, Deepika had to turn it down because of her prior commitment to Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 's Padmavati.
Now, rumours are doing the rounds that Alia Bhatt was also approached for the second female lead. But the Badrinath Ki Dulhania actress has also opted out of her good friend Shah Rukh's film, according to a report in the Deccan Chronicle. It is worth mentioning that Shah Rukh and Alia starred in Dear Zindagi earlier.
According to the Deccan Chronicle report, Alia didn't want to hurt or appear to be rude to Shah Rukh. So she sought her mentor, Karan Johar's advice on how to deal with the situation. On Karan's suggestion, Alia made sure that Shah Rukh knew how booked her schedule was. The petite actress reportedly asked Shah Rukh to choose dates that either suited him or to excuse her from the film. An understanding Shah Rukh was reportedly happy that Alia had made her position clear. Shah Rukh will play the role of a dwarf in the film.
Meanwhile, Alia has two upcoming projects on hand. She will be seen in Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy along with Ranveer Singh and also in Ayan Mukherjee's Dragon opposite Ranbir Kapoor.
